Do I need an Authorised Representative if I sell through Amazon or Etsy?
If your business is established outside the UK/EU and there is no other economic operator (importer or fulfilment provider taking that role) in the market, then for many product categories yes - and marketplaces will ask for the details. Under the EU GPSR, most consumer products sold into the EU require a named responsible economic operator established in the EU.
What's the difference between an Authorised Representative and a Responsible Person?
They are similar roles under different regulations. "Responsible Person" is the term used for cosmetics (and marketplace programmes), while "Authorised Representative" is used in general product safety and CE/UKCA marking legislation. Does my product packaging need to show the Authorised Representative's address?
